Special Education Support Services
Special Education is an integral part of the educational enterprise at Lifeline Education Charter School (LECS), not a separate order. In any school system, special education is a means of enlarging the capacity of the system to serve the educational needs of all children.
In particular, the function of special education at LECS is to ensure that every Lifeline student with a disability has access to an educational environment that supports their unique learning needs to support their achievement of academic excellence.
Some of the operational support services provided include:

Assisting parents with Individualized Education Program (IEP) and/or 504 plan support;

Establishing policies and procedures for IEP translation services;

Placement Support.
In California, every local education agency (LEA) is required to belong to a Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA). The SELPA is a consortia of LEAs responsible for the development of special education policies and procedures, distribution of federal and state special education funds, and providing a range of professional development pertaining to special education. As of the 2007-08 school year, Lifeline Education Charter School is a proud member of the El Dorado County SELPA.
